Donations

In addition to the designated programs below, our Chapter also financially supports an annual JROTC summer encampment where a number of local cadets from various local JROTC programs come together for several weeks where they are exposed to leadership, discipline and traditional military values.

If you are so inclined, we welcome your support.  You may designate support for one or more of these programs or a general donation to the Chapter to be used where the need is greatest.

    We have 3 Beneficiaries:

    1. Hearts to Heroes

Hearts to Heroes is a local non-profit organization whose mission “is to provide care packages to the deployed military troops of the United States of America made possible by the donation of monies/items from those individuals/groups that support them.”  A free will offering is taken, netting approximately $2,000 annually for this worthwhile cause.

    2. ROTC JROTC Awards

The Middle Georgia Chapter annually supports 22 JROTC high school programs and one college ROTC program in the Middle Georgia area.  Chapter members attend the awards ceremonies in the April/May timeframe.

Honorees are outstanding students in the various Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine ROTC programs.  Feedback from these schools indicates that the cadets are appreciative of MOAA member presence to award their medal and certificate.

    3. Byron Elementary School

Our Chapter, through the Ladies Auxiliary, has been supporting the Byron Elementary School Navy Junior ROTC program.  It is the only elementary school in Georgia to have such a program.  In their second year, enrollment significantly increased to approximately 120 cadets.

The color guard attended one of our recent chapter meetings and were very impressive as they posted the colors.  Their ROTC instructor gave a very compelling and informative presentation and stated how supportive the school administration was in getting this program off the ground
